Laughter
Blog #8
It’s been awhile and I apologise to those of you who religiously check this out weekly - but surprise it’s here today!!
I’ve been forced to write today as I have noticed recently that people are not experiencing enough laughter laughter in life.
You know what, you can combine serious with enjoyment, lightness and joy.
The Coach U faculty training I am on at the moment is all about learning but at the same time having fun - It has been researched people learn better when they are having fun, when you laugh the endorphins kick in and the feel good feeling lasts a lot longer than the actual laughing itself!
Look after yourself have a good belly laugh regularly - check this out it will show you that laughing is contagious and when you laugh you are brightneing up anothers life.

Giving and Receiving
Blog #7
Good Morning
It has been a busy weekend with celebrating our youngest son’s 21st!
Which is why today’s pearl is around giving and receiving as we have been receiving help, support and just plain hard work from friends and family - thank you to all of you concerned!
So a timely reminder of the art of giving and receiving and it is an art as we are so condistioned to give and see that as honourable, but what about the equally important art of receiving!!
This we are not so conditioned in as we are lead often to believe that receiving is indeed selfishness.
However, we cannot truly be giving if we cannot receive! Giving and receiving are energies and we need these to be equal for the flow to be in balance and for harmony. When we give too much we can become martyrs or worse resentful, when we receive too much we can also become resentful, selfish and feel unworthy.
Honour yourself! Be in the flow, be balanced, Give and Receive equally and enjoy the power of true harmony!!
Have a great week

Courage
Blog #6
Good Morning
Here it is the Tuesday after Easter and the Pearl this week is about Courgae - Why? Because the Easter story is about courage! Courage to speak out and to show belief! Courage to follow where your belief will take you! Trusting that you will be rewarded by following your heart, your instinct and holding onto the vision and letting go of the outcome. Courage to understand that what happens today may not be what you wanted - what you were ordering up, asking the universe for - but courage to trust that NOW is perfect and we will learn from ‘what is!’
I am asking YOU to be courageous (and myself!) Believe in what you are doing - go with the flow, swim with the current and keep your Vision in mind always. Enjoy the rough and tumble of the bouncing over the stones and rocks on the way, take the time to pause when you get stuck for awhile behind the large rocks, the obstacles, these allow us the time to reflect and learn.
Enjoy life enjoy the flow, the current will take you where you need to go. Trust that you will be delievered what you need when you need it. Resisting and fighting the tide will put you out of kilter, things will get tough, life will be hard.
Allow Faith, Trust and Courage to carry you through your days!
Warm wishes

Reflection
Blog #5
Good Morning
I am continuing the blog by request(J
Today the Pearl is about reflection and looking at Moments that Matter. Over the last few weeks I have had reason to do this for myself.
One was to write a piece of reflection for a fabulous group of women. We were considering writing a book together and this was our first exercise.
The next was to reflect on my reaction to a family situation. It was a learning experience and one I will treasure as out of it came a blessing in that we realized how lucky we are with our family. Through an amazing discussion with our son both my husband and I were blown away with his maturity. But most of all he showed us what a special family we have and how lucky we all are!
Here is the writing exercise I wish to share with you.
Today and where I have come from ………………..
Joy, laughter and love ………..
At the beginning of this week I read a line from my stars (yes I do this daily) saying ‘if your heart is laughing you are on the right track’. Wow!
So everyday I now ask myself “Is my heart laughing?” I suggest that you ask yourself this question too.
When I ask this question sometimes I think my heart is singing, other times it feels it’s coping or getting through. But what is fabulous is that through asking myself this question I am getting clear about what is right for me.
So how did I get to where I am today,?
When working with people on being authentic I ask them about ‘moments that matter;
- they are those times when life is exposed so much so that it can be a life and death situation
- It’s a time when you are compelled to get in touch with your true self and look at what really matters
- they are times when you look at who you are being!
When I look at my life and at those times ………
The time when I was assaulted by an intruder while babysitting at the age of 16.
The time that I watched two nurses (actually one was an intern or doctor I suspect. but such was their age…) do a lumbar punch on me as I was suffering from viral meningitis. I watched from a height. I realized later, this was an out of body experience.
Again not so much an out of body experience but the time I had to dig very deep within myself to come through acute pancreatitis.
What did I realize about myself through these experiences that I am strong, I have belief in the higher consciousness - God, that I am here on earth for others.
So those were the times that shook me.
Then there was the time I remember as a child singing to the stars in the paddock with my pony. I was seven and I remember the feeling of being as one.
The joy of delivering each of my children into the world – the miracle of life.
Joy, Laugher and love ………………..
For my present - I have a wonderful loving husband who I am forever grateful for. I have three wonderful loving children. I have the honour of working with people on their most precious possession – themselves – who they are being!
I try my best to
- honour my values daily
- walk the talk of being a professional coach
- practice what I preach (J)
- but most importantly I told a friend about an interaction I had with a stranger at the airport where I supported her through meeting someone off the plane. My friend called me an ‘earth angel’ I love and cherish that comment. I try to live up to it daily being an earth angel I don’t always succeed as of course I am a human being ……..
Joy laughter and love……………………………………..

A NEW MOON so start making CHOICES for the year ahead!
Tuesday, January 27th, 2009
Good Morning
Blog #4
Today give gratitude for and appreciate our greatest gift
Our freedom to make CHOICES in life
What choices are you making?
It’s a new moon a fresh start
Choose to day how you will live the rest of your life…
How exciting the Chinese New Year has begun and what that really means is that it’s the first new moon of the New Year.
The moon is in Aquarius - I really don’t understand astronomy but I do read my stars and as I’m an Aquarian (so is my husband!) it looks like it means good things for us and for everyone.
Here is what the The Herald says for Aquarians ” The New Moon is in Aquarius. That is a sure fire indication of a fresh beginning. Put the past asise and start anew. Rejuvenate your plans, your visions and your whole way of seeing. Pull the sky to the earth”
Now I truly believe this can be read for everyone. I love the vocabulary being used, ‘fresh beginning’ - it’s a new day we can all have a fesh start (:). ‘Visons’ - one of my lessons “Hold fast to the vision, let go of the outcome and do what you have to do day to day” Jane Thomas.
But best of all today “Pull the sky to the earth”.
To follow that advice I’m taking a copy of the Reaching for the Stars booklet and working through the steps of goal setting to start on my fresh beginnings, rejuvanting my plans, starting anew and making the choices on how I want to live the rest of my life.
Join me - I am holding workshops both in person and by teleconference during February 2009 details to follow soon. Let me know which one you would like to attend.
Have a wonderful week and enjoy and make the most of this New Beginning.
Warm wishes

Your Vision for Tomorrow - Today

Good Morning
Blog #3
“Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough,
and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos into order,
confusion into clarity….
It [Gratitude] turns
problems into gifts
failures into success
the unexpected into perfect timing
and mistakes into important events (JAFLOS)
Gratitude makes
sense of our past
brings peace for today
creates a vision for tomorrow”
Melodie Beattie
Now is the time for YOU to create YOUR Vision for Tomorrow
Isn’t it wonderful the sun is not shining so brightly today, I’m taking the opportunity to enjoy the cooler temperature! Outside I can hear the birds whistling and singing in the trees they seem to have more energy today, perhaps they too are enjoying the cooler temperature. While we can appreciate the sunshine we can also be grateful for the cooler temperature on a cloudy day.
I look forward to my Monday mornings creating the Essential Pearl, I find it motivational so I trust you do too. The Essential Pearl, Essential Gym and soon to be Essential Club are all part of my personal vision and the vision for my business.
Do you have a clear vision for yourself, your life?
If not take some time over the next week to get clarity around how this may look. Your vision is what holds all your life plans/dreams/goals together. Whether they are related to relationships, finances, career, fitness, health there is an overall umbrella which is your vision. This pulls all areas of your life together refer to your Wheel of Life. (Ask us)
To think and plan at the umbrella/vision view (your strategic view) you need to create an environment where you can think past the day to day activities.
- Take time to create more energy – deal to those jobs, things that are holding you back emotionally and physically, they can be little things that are stopping you from doing what you want to. We refer to these as tolerations.
- Set boundaries and standards so you have the room to ‘be’ you
3. Say ‘NO’ to activities that are not adding anything to your life (be honest here)
4. Clear the clutter both physically and emotionally.
Your vision is closely aligned to your ‘sense of purpose’. Do you have a sense of purpose? Purpose and ‘how to’ get clarity on your purpose is going to be an exercise we will do in this months teleconference meeting for the Essential Gym members as well as an article in our Essential e-magazine.
N.B. We have found some people want to be part of the Essential Gym but not wanting/needing coaching at this stage. If you are interested in receiving the Essential e-magazine and being part of our Essential Monthly meetings (teleconferences) along with receiving our Essential Pearl weekly then ask us about an Essential Club membership.
Have a fabulous week and thank you for being you!

A movie on appreciation to watch
A beautiful morning one we can really appreciate. I was looking through exercises on appreciation and I have a very good one on acknowledgment. It reminded me of a course I took recently when a manager pointed out how his staff were not able to take acknowledgments. Giving and Receiving compliments, acknowledgements and appreication is something that some of us have to learn. Like anything with practice we get better at it. Let me know if you would like a copy of the exercise. Exercise please.
TODAY is beautiful and it’s easy to appreciate the world when the sun is shining and the New Year has begun. Hopefully you are all refreshed, re energsied, refocused and enthusiastic to be back at work.
Are YOU Setting new goals, aspirations and expectations for yourself?
Here are some simple but important guidelines when setting goals after all
Goals are plans for making YOUR DREAMS come true.
The 6 Essential Essense Coaching Goal Setting Steps
N.B. No repeating last years resolutions – if you are repeating them (and sometimes they are repeated yearly!!!) then these aren’t goals these are other people’s expectations and or the trend.
- Visualise your goal – feel it, smell it, taste it, hear it – what colour is it?
- Write down your action plans! Follow the SMART plan if that works best for you.
- Now look at what you need to help make this happen – What Resources do you need.
- What FEARS – Limiting beliefs, Obstacles do you envisage encountering while working towards your dream outcome?
- What solutions can you come up with that will override these. Use your tool box of skills and techniques. If you need help then contact us
- Keep motivated – make yourself some charts and a vision board to keep you on track. Ask us for our handy chart to keep you focused - Chart Please!
- Celebrate – keep celebrating along the way the small successes and the big.
If you want this enough you will achieve it. Ask yourself the question
How much do I want this?
Remember – You are enough as you are right NOW – YOU CAN!!!!

My First Blog #1
“Begin the New Year practicing gratitude and appreciation.
By being thankful for what you have, YOU uplift your spirits.
YOU create a positive attitude.
With the right attitude you can
- Foster possibilities
- Create space for new opportunities
- Achieve new goals
- Reach new expectations”
You are who you are today because of what you have experienced and encountered to date upon this journey of life. Rejoice and embrace this - embrace who you are - love yourself.
Not so easy to do? Then start by being grateful for what you have. Make a list of all the good things in your life. There are two essential elments to our existence Air and Water, start here. Give thanks and appreciate that you have water to drink and air to breathe. So long as we have those two essential elements we have the gift given to us as human beings “Freedom of will” and through the freedom of will, we have the right to make choices, and so long as we have the right to make choices we have the makings of the life we want.
Thats why I’m starting the New Year with gratitdue and appreciation.
Here are a couple of things I am grateful for…
- Water, water that we generally take for granted. Over the break my husband and I were fortunate to stay in a friends bach near Taupo (NZ). Through miscommunication ( yes this happens with coaches too) we didn’t get the right instructions for turning on the water. So for two days we lived without running water. A great experience as it made us realise just how often we turn the tap and take for granted that hot or cold water will be delivered at our request. How often do you get frustrated when the hot tap takes awhile to heat up? or the shower doesn’t have quite the pressure you expect?
- Our burglar alarm. While we were away we had an uninvited guest(s) who thought they would try and enter our house through our bedroom window. While they broke the window latch they didn’t get into our room and they didn’t manage to take anything with them. Now it’s not that we would lose all our precious items that have sentimental value - as they went a couple of years ago when people did get in. It’s that, people have been through your drawers (I’ve since gone out and replenished my lingerie), you have had to report everything to the police, then to the insurance company (who start to look at you sideways after you make too many claims), wait for the claim to be processed then go purchase replacement items etc etc etc and it all takes time, energy and emotion. So I certainly appreciate our burgler alarm and am grateful to the person(s) who invented them.
I haven’t even mentioned my forever gratitide and appreciation for my understanding husband, wonderful children and wider family. That the sun shines and warms me, helps my plants grow and makes people happy and smile. For the rain, that waters the crops that helps food grow so I can eat, that cools me down and fills our rivers for our water supply. The list goes on and on.
I am sure that you can make a list of ten things that you are grateful for …
Thanks for reading I’ll be writing now on regularly every week.
Until then take care
Jane
